7-Day Itinerary for Tuscany: Pisa to Siena

Tuscany's charm lies in its perfect blend of art, history, and stunning landscapes. This 7-day tour takes you from the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa to the art-filled streets of Florence, through the medieval wonders of San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, and the historic beauty of Siena. Along the way, you’ll experience Tuscany’s culinary delights, vineyards, and breathtaking countryside.

Day 1: Arrival in Pisa & Transfer to Lucca

Morning: Arrive in Pisa and visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Piazza dei Miracoli, and Baptistery.

Afternoon: Transfer (30 min) to Lucca, a charming walled city known for its intact Renaissance walls, for a 2-night stay.

Evening: Stroll through Lucca’s streets, visiting Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and enjoying dinner at a traditional Tuscan trattoria.

Overnight in Lucca (2 nights)

Day 2: Explore Lucca & Day Trip to Pisa or Viareggio

Morning: Rent a bike and cycle around the Lucca city walls for panoramic views. Explore San Martino Cathedral and Torre Guinigi.

Afternoon Option 1: Take a short trip back to Pisa (30 mins) to explore more of its historic sites.

Afternoon Option 2: Head to the seaside at Viareggio (30 mins) to relax on the beach and enjoy the Tuscan coastline.

Evening: Return to Lucca for dinner and a leisurely evening exploring its charming piazzas.

Day 3: Transfer to Florence

Morning: Depart for Florence (1 hr 20 min drive), the Renaissance capital.

Afternoon: Visit the Piazza del Duomo with its magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery. Climb to the top of the Duomo for incredible views over Florence.

Overnight in Florence (2 nights)

Day 4: Explore Florence

Day 5: Transfer to San Gimignano via Monteriggioni

Afternoon: Continue to San Gimignano (30 mins), known for its medieval towers and UNESCO World Heritage status. Spend the afternoon exploring its Piazza della Cisterna, Collegiate Church, and Torre Grossa.

Evening: Enjoy a wine tasting of Vernaccia di San Gimignano and dinner in the heart of this charming town.

Overnight in San Gimignano (2 nights)

Day 6: Day Trip to Volterra & Explore San Gimignano

Morning: Take a short trip to Volterra (40 mins), an ancient Etruscan city known for its alabaster workshops and well-preserved Roman theater. Visit Palazzo dei Priori and Guarnacci Etruscan Museum.

Afternoon: Return to San Gimignano and enjoy its medieval streets, shopping for local crafts, and perhaps a visit to the San Gimignano 1300 Museum, which showcases a detailed ceramic model of the town in its prime.

Day 7: Transfer to Siena
