1-Day Itinerary in Paris

Morning

Eiffel Tower

Begin your morning at Paris’ most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower. Arrive early to beat the crowds and take the elevator to the top for a panoramic view of the city. The iconic structure offers breathtaking vistas of Paris’ skyline, from the Seine River to the Champs-Élysées. After descending, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the adjacent Champ de Mars, a peaceful garden perfect for snapping more photos of the tower from various angles.

Walk to Trocadéro

From the Eiffel Tower, head over to Trocadéro, just across the Seine. This spot offers some of the best views of the tower, framed by the elegant Palais de Chaillot. Trocadéro’s terrace is a great place to take in the grandeur of the tower and watch street performers or enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Arc de Triomphe & Champs-Élysées

Next, make your way to the Arc de Triomphe, another Parisian icon that stands at the top of the Champs-Élysées. You can climb to the top of the arch for another sweeping view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower and the grand avenue below. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll down the Champs-Élysées, one of the most famous shopping streets in the world, lined with luxury boutiques, cafés, and theaters.

Afternoon

Explore the Louvre Museum

From the Champs-Élysées, take a short metro ride or walk to the Louvre Museum, home to some of the world’s most famous works of art. Even if you don’t have time for an in-depth visit, seeing the glass pyramid entrance and the exterior of the former royal palace is a must. If you do enter, prioritize visiting iconic pieces such as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and Liberty Leading the People. The Louvre is vast, so be selective in what you choose to explore in the time you have.

Lunch at a Parisian Café

For lunch, relax at one of the many charming Parisian cafés in the nearby Palais Royal or Saint-Germain-des-Prés areas. Opt for classic French fare like a croque-monsieur, quiche Lorraine, or a fresh baguette sandwich, and don’t forget to order a glass of French wine or a cappuccino to complete the experience.

Discover the Notre-Dame Cathedral and Île de la Cité

After lunch, head over to the Île de la Cité, an island in the Seine where the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral stands. While the cathedral is still under reconstruction following the 2019 fire, you can admire its stunning Gothic architecture from the outside and explore the nearby Sainte-Chapelle, known for its breathtaking stained glass windows. Stroll along the banks of the Seine and browse the riverside booksellers, known as bouquinistes, for vintage books and prints.
