Begin your hike up Loughrigg Fell, one of the Lake District's most accessible and scenic walks. The trail offers moderate difficulty, starting from Ambleside’s Rothay Park. As you ascend, enjoy panoramic views of Windermere, Grasmere, and Rydal Water. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding lakes and fells.

Descend back into Ambleside, taking in the picturesque landscapes as you make your way back to town.

Afternoon

Boat Ride to Bowness-on-Windermere

Head to the Ambleside Pier and take a scenic boat cruise to Bowness-on-Windermere. The boat ride (approx. 30 minutes) offers stunning views of Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, surrounded by beautiful hills and woodlands.

Explore Bowness

Once in Bowness, stroll along the lakefront, visit the Windermere Jetty Museum to learn about the area’s boating history, or simply enjoy some time by the water. Take a short walk up to Orrest Head for sweeping views of the lake and surrounding fells.

Return to Ambleside

Take a boat back to Ambleside and relax after your afternoon of exploring.

Evening

Dinner at The Old Stamp House Restaurant

Dinner at The Old Stamp House

End your day with an exquisite meal at The Old Stamp House, one of Ambleside’s finest restaurants. With a Michelin star and a focus on local, seasonal ingredients, the menu showcases modern Cumbrian cuisine. Dishes like Cartmel Valley venison or wild foraged herbs and vegetables will give you a true taste of the Lake District.
