This one-day itinerary focuses on starting in the main town of Como and taking a scenic ferry ride to visit Bellagio and another picturesque town. Como Town: Explore the Historical Center
Start your day in Como Town, the main town on Lake Como. Begin by exploring its charming Piazza del Duomo and visiting the impressive Como Cathedral (Duomo di Como), a stunning Gothic masterpiece. Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old town, stopping by local shops and cafes. You can also explore the ancient Porta Torre, part of the city’s medieval defenses.
Como-Brunate Funicular
For panoramic views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains, take the Como-Brunate Funicular up to Brunate, a hilltop village just above Como. Once at the top, enjoy a short walk to the Volta Lighthouse, which offers breathtaking views of the lake and the Alps. Return to Como by noon, ready for the next adventure.
Ferry from Como to Bellagio
After exploring Como and Brunate, board a ferry for a scenic ride to Bellagio, known as the "Pearl of Lake Como." The ferry ride itself is a highlight, as you pass picturesque villas, lush gardens, and charming lakeside villages. Be sure to sit on the upper deck for the best views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Explore Varenna: Villa Monastero & Castello di Vezio
In Varenna, take time to visit Villa Monastero, a historic villa with beautifully landscaped gardens that stretch along the lakeshore. The gardens are perfect for a peaceful stroll with incredible lake views. If time permits and you're feeling adventurous, hike up to Castello di Vezio, a medieval castle perched above Varenna.
